Comparison sites or a bill review: which suits your business?
When a price comparison site is enough, and when a line-by-line bill review is worth it. How each is paid, and what each looks at.
Comparison sites are quick and useful for small, simple supplies. They compare unit rates and standing charges on offer today. They do not usually look at whether your meter, capacity, usage pattern or waste collections are right for you.
| Compared on | Comparison site | Bill review with a broker |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Minutes | Usually a few days |
| Looks at | Rates on offer today | Rates, charges, set-up, contract terms and waste, as well as new offers |
| Finds billing errors | Usually not | Can spot them, line by line |
| Multiple sites | Usually one at a time | All sites together |
| How it is paid | Usually by the supplier, often commission | Usually commission from the supplier you choose, shown in your contract |
| Choice of suppliers | The suppliers listed on the site | The broker’s panel of suppliers |
Use both
If you have one small site, a comparison site may be all you need. If you have several sites, high usage or bills you do not understand, a review can help, and you can still check any offer against a comparison site. Whoever you use, ask how they are paid and which suppliers they compare.
How we are paid
ITEA Limited trades as BizUp360. How we are paid. When you sign a contract we arranged, the supplier pays ITEA Limited a commission. For energy and gas this is usually included in your unit rate or standing charge. The amount is shown in your contract's principal terms, and we will tell you in writing, in pence per kWh and in pounds per year, before you sign. We compare offers from a panel of suppliers, not the whole market. We may receive different commission from different suppliers, and we will always tell you what we receive.
